Methodology of Integrated Production of Aronia (Chokeberry)

The efforts to develop the first ever Methodology of Integrated Production of Chokeberry have been just successfully completed. The programme was developed at the Institute of Horticulture in Skierniewice under the guidance of dr hab. Paweł Wójcik. The United Chokeberry cluster greatly contributed to the initiation of the project and its financing by the Ministry of Agriculture, with mgr inż. Piotr Eggert participating in the professional consultations.

Now that the integrated system has been implemented, the producers of chokeberry can obtain the certificate confirming the high quality of their products. The quality certificate is a minimum requirement to export fruit and vegetables do certain countries. The leading fruit and vegetables processing companies in the Polish market also seriously consider buying only certified raw material, which can result in higher prices of these products.

The system is supervised by the State Inspection for Plant Health and Seed Protection, although the certification itself will be probably done by a certifying company.
